কাঁথি-পূর্ব মেদিনীপুর। ব্যস্ততার শহর কাঁথিতে আজ দুপুর ১ টা নাগাদ লাগলো আগুন। খড়্গপুর বাইপাস থেকে ক্যানেলপাড় যাওয়ার রাস্তায় নিউ মার্কেট এর মধ্যে একটি বেডিং স্টোরে হঠাৎ করে আগুন লেগে যায়।
তুলো ও সুতো দিয়ে তৈরি জিনিসপত্র থাকার কারনে আগুন খুব দ্রুততার সাথে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। তড়িঘড়ি করে খবর পাঠানো হয় প্রশাসন ও দমকল বাহিনীর কাছে। কাঁথি দমকল বাহিনী এসে অনেক চেষ্টায় আগুন আয়ত্তে আনে। ওই বেডিং দোকানের অনেক কিছু পুড়ে যায় ও অনেক জিনিস পত্র ক্ষয়ক্ষতি হয়েছে বলে সূত্র মারফত জানা গেছে। তবে কি কারনে এই আগুন লাগলো তা অনুসন্ধানের চেষ্টা চালাচ্ছে প্রশাসন কতৃপক্ষ।
